(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - "Discussions are underway over the Syrian issue at the political committee," Secretary of NAM experts meeting Mohammad Mehdi Akhoundzadeh told us today.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.
In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of stirring unrests in Syria once again.
Akhoundzadeh said that during the experts meeting today, the text presented by Qatar about the Syrian crisis in Sharm al-Sheikh NAM conference was revised to some extent.
The 16th NAM summit started in Tehran today and will last to August 31. At the start of the today meeting, Iran assumed the rotating presidency of the movement from Egypt for three years.
